City of Algonac Refuse,Recyclables, and Compost Info

RICHFIELD MANAGEMENT L.L.C., is collecting Algonac’s residential refuse, recycles and compost as well as making special bulky pickups. PLEASE contact Richfield Management immediately for any questions or concerns regarding your collection.

Refuse, cans or bags, should be placed at the curb
by 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, your collection day.

HOLIDAYS

The following holidays will cause a one day delay for trash pick up.
Instead of a Thursday pick up it would be Friday. If any of these holidays should fall on a weekend, trash day would NOT be delayed.

New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July,
Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

What to place in your recycle bin:

1. Cans: Metal: food and beverage. Rinse can & remove label, flatten if possible.
2. Glass: Jars and bottles; green, brown and clear, discard lid. Rinse container.
3. News Papers: Newsprint; tuck loosely to one side of bin.
4. Plastic Bottles: Must be stamped on bottom like this:

Common types of plastic bottles with these numbers on the bottom are milk and water jugs, pop and laundry products bottles. (No Motor Oil Containers.) Discard cap. Rinse bottle.

When to place your recycle bin at the curb?

On Thursday, your regular collection day, before 7:00 a.m.

If severe weather is predicted, please do not set out your recycling bin at night, wait until morning. If possible, hold your newspapers until the following week.

COMPOST

Compost collection starts on April 1st and ends approximately November 25th.

Leaves, grass, yard and garden materials must be curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, your day of collection.

These items will only be collected if placed out according to the following conditions:

1. 30 gallon brown paper yard waste bags are acceptable.
2. 30-35 gallon refuse containers are acceptable.
a. The container must be marked with a 12 inch “X” on two sides.
b. The container must be placed a minimum of 5 feet from the household refuse container.
3. All twigs to be tied and bundled.

SPECIAL ‘BULKY’ PICK UP

Richfield Management will collect large household items each week along with your regular pickup without any special charge and without any advance call. This service includes such items as rolls of carpet (must be rolled and secured for one person handling), water softeners, mattresses and box springs, furniture and large appliances. Appliances must have a sticker (from a license rep of the E.P.A.) showing the Freon removed, OR you may call Richfield Management at 1-877-609-6753 to notify them of an appliance for pick up
